Superior 3D printing experience
Cura Ultimaker 3 Extended Screen
Extensively tested preconfigured Ultimaker Cura profiles make for a smoother, more seamless 3D printing experience by automatically adjusting the necessary settings for each material and print core. Produce consistent, quality results with every print.
Built-in material recognition system ensures your 3D printer is primed and ready for the task. Ultimaker 3 detects and identifies the material on the spool holder and checks the correspondence of a filament and print core type being used.
The EEPROM chip in the print core memorizes the size and type of your nozzle, notifies you in case of misuse and, as a result, helps achieve higher print success rates.
The print head
Combine build and water-soluble support materials to create complex mechanical parts and intricate surfaces or choose to print with two colors. Ultimaker 3’s unique auto nozzle-lifting system ensures a smooth, professional finish with every print.
Faster print core changes mean higher uptime and easier maintenance. Your Ultimaker 3 comes with print cores for build (AA) and water-soluble support (BB) materials.
Ultimaker 3 has a powerful, low-noise fan system. Featuring two new radial fans and fan shrouds, it creates greater pressure build-up for an improved airflow. This ensures better cooling, high quality bridging, faster print runs and smooth print surfaces.
Print core LED lights ensure an optimized 3D printing experience by alerting if any user interaction is needed.
The heated build plate
The capacitive sensor in the print head measures distances between the print bed and the nozzle, and the tilt angle is compensated by adjusting the z height in the first layers. The result? More accurate leveling and improved build plate adhesion.
The Ultimaker 3 features a build plate that’s lighter and stiffer, which reduces vibrations and helps produce an unrivalled print quality. The removable glass plate makes it easy to access your prints.
Thanks to the heated glass build plate, you can print using many different materials and with improved build plate adhesion.
Simple controls and connectivity
Enjoy standalone printing using a USB stick (16GB included).
Send your print project quickly and easily to your Ultimaker 3 via Ultimaker Cura.
Monitor every stage of your 3D printing project remotely by simply connecting to your Ultimaker 3’s Wi-Fi network. The result? Optimized workflow and exceptional control.
Create sophisticated models and intricate geometries like this Gyro by Virtox – and remove supports by resting the print in water, without leaving a trace. Ultimaker 3D printers are most reliable dual extrusion machines on the market. Water-soluble support structures help you build intricate structures, complex mechanical parts and smooth surfaces.
Choose the perfect material
Ultimaker 3’s range of materials are formulated to achieve superior results. Optimized Ultimaker Cura profiles offer the best print settings per material and recognize which print core and material you’re using. The open filament system lets you experiment with all kinds of materials to empower your business.

4 companies that have written a review about the Ultimaker 2+ give a total of 7.3 as average grade. See the reviewDescription
The new Ultimaker 3 Extended is the big brother of the new Ultimaker 3 and quite an improvement over its predecessor, the Ultimaker 2+ Extended. The most important addition is the second extruder, which allows you to print with two materials at the same time.
Because of this and because the printhead and the heating printbed can manage higher temperatures, you can also use aside from PLA, ABS, PETG, Nylon a host of other flexible filaments like PVA, HIPS and PolySupport. Just put the object after printing into normal water and the support materials will easily melt away with excellent results; fast and without endless scraping and sanding.
Other changes:
- Layer resolution of up to 20 micron with a 0.4 mm nozzle
- Maximum build volume of 8.5 x 8.5 x 11.8 inches (215 x 215 x 200 mm)
- Heatable printbed with active bed-leveling
- Print temperature of up to a maximum of 536 degrees Fahrenheit (280 degrees Celsius)
- Replaceable print cores
Exterior
The exterior and the way the printer is built hasn't been significantly changed by Ultimaker. The maximum print size of 8.5 x 8.5 x 11.8 inches (215 x 215 x 200 mm) (when in use with a nozzle; 7.8 x 8.5 x 11.8 inches) is a little smaller compared to the 2+ Extended, but normally that should be enough for most objects that you want to print.

With two new fans and protective grids the Ultimaker 3 has a stronger and more silent ventilation. While the Ultimaker 2 was already very silent, the Ultimaker 3 with just 50 dB of noise can be almost considered to be a noiseless 3D printer and as such is ideal to be used in your immediate work environment.
Cura 2
Just like the 2+ Extended this new printer also comes shipped with Ultimaker's own open source software Cura. Now, however, it is version 2 of the most used slicer-software at this time. And in it working in the cloud has been given more attention with features for monitoring your prints remotely and new WiFi/LAN-connectivity. Cura 2 is of course usable on Windows, Linux as well as Mac.
